Shooting an Elephant

That night the image of the dying elephant hovered in my mind and made it very difficult for me to fall asleep. Why did Orwell write down the story 10 years after shooting the 


elephant especially when it comes to the details of the agony, the hopeless, helpless, struggle scene? I guess he wanted to get off of his chest with what he had done, to make himself like a fool in front of us because confession is good for your soul. He did want the public to judge him harshly and he was willing to take the heat. Therefore, when I read it again last night, I’d decided that I would be one of the 2000 people in back of him. That helped. Many things are like this in life. If it’s difficult to look at, try to look at it from different view. Life is too short to be bothered by anything like this. All creatures have their own destiny, don’t they? On the other hand, many times we do things not by our own will; instead, we do it because of other people’s expectation. This is kind of sad. What would've happened if Orwell hadn't shot the elephant as his original plan? Life can be cruel, but yet, we keep going… wearing a mask.

When people didn't die we say it's good, God help him.
When we are sick, we say it's god's decision, need to be happy to accept it. When we recover, we say it's god's mercy, need to worship..
